Vol. 35 No. 10

Written Answers. - Acton Estate (Co. Mayo).

asked the Minister for Lands and Fisheries if he will state the cause of delay in dividing the remainder of the lands of G. H. Acton Estate, Bridgemount, Belcarra, Castlebar, which were acquired by the Irish Land Commission over two years ago.

The Land Commission had hoped to be in a position to put the scheme for the division of these lands into operation last spring, but owing to the time unavoidably occupied in settling questions which arose in connection with the arrangements for division it was found impracticable to do so. The lands have been placed in charge of a stock manager with the object of providing for local grazing requirements pending the completion of the allotment proceedings.
