Vol. 36 No. 10

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Acquisition of Tuam Lands.

asked the Minister for Lands and Fisheries whether he will state what progress has been made by the Land Commission towards the acquisition of the untenanted lands on the McCormack Estate, Agloragh, Tuam, Co. Galway.

The lands of Agloragh have been gazetted under the provisions of the Land Act, 1923, with a view to their acquisition and the Land Commission are in negotiation with the owner on the question of price at the moment.

Is the Parliamentary Secretary aware that he gave a similar reply on the 4th December, 1929, and also in February, 1928?

It is obvious that the Deputy has not looked up the replies to the previous questions.

The Parliamentary Secretary has stated I have not looked up the previous replies. This was his reply on the 4th December, 1929:—

"Proceedings are at present in progress under the provisions of the Land Act, 1923, for the acquisition of the lands of Agloragh, the property of Mr. Francis McCormack. The Land Commission will not be in a position to divide the lands until these proceedings have been completed."

That reply is the same as that given to-day.

Not at all.

What is the difference?
