Vol. 37 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Relief Schemes in Leix and Offaly.

asked the Minister for Lands and Fisheries if he can state the estimated cost of schemes submitted to the Irish Land Commission for works proposed to be carried out from moneys provided out of the Relief Schemes Vote in the counties— (1) Leix, (2) Offaly, the cost of works already approved by the Commissioners in each case, and the number of men employed on such approved schemes during the week ended 7th February, 1931.

No estimate has been made of the total cost of carrying out all the works in Counties Leix and Offaly in respect of which applications for grants out of the Relief Vote have been made to the Land Commission.

Works have been undertaken out of funds provided by the Relief Vote —the estimated cost of which amounts to £950 in Leix and £650 in Offaly. The particulars as to the number of men employed on such works for the week ending 7th February are not available.

Can the Parliamentary Secretary state definitely if anyone was employed during the week ending 7th February?

No, but I assume that some men were working in these counties during that Particular week.

You assume it.
