Vol. 41 No. 2

Business of the Dáil.

As regards the order of business to-day, it is proposed to take the business as on the Order Paper. I move that the Dáil sit later than 9 p.m. this evening, and that the order for the adjournment of the Dáil be taken not later than 10.30 p.m.

Is it proposed to take No. 3 on the Order Paper to-day—the election of An Leas-Cheann Comhairle?

And it is proposed to adjourn for a month as soon as the immediate business on the Paper is completed to-day or to-morrow?

If we are able to complete the business to-day and to-morrow, I propose that we adjourn to-morrow until the 20th April.

And the President still proposes to go on with No. 3?

I object to No. 3 being taken to-day.

Is the President in a position to state what will happen the unemployed in the meantime?

Is it only now that the Deputy is waking up to that?

I do not understand the ground on which Deputy Cosgrave is objecting to the taking of Item No. 3 on the Order Paper. The Leas-Cheann Comhairle is, as a rule, appointed at the beginning of the Session.

It is most indecent haste and extravagance.

Satan rebuking sin.

It means that £50 is to be paid for two hours' work. I will have something to say about that when it comes on.

Question agreed to.
