Vol. 46 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Road Vehicles—Seating Accommodation.

asked the Minister for Local Government and Public Health if, in view of the inadequacy of the Road Vehicles (Seating Capacity) Regulations, 1932, laid on the Table of the Dáil on 8th February, under the Roads Act, 1920, he will make regulations to provide (a) that in road vehicles where seats are placed in front of each other there shall not be less than two feet six inches between the back of one seat and the front of another; (b) that gangways between seats shall not be less than 16 inches in width; and (c) that suitable racks for holding light articles shall be provided.

The existing regulations affecting this and kindred matters will be re-examined when the Road Traffic Bill at present before the House becomes law.

Does that mean that the regulations relating to seating capacity in road vehicles will be considered again in connection with this legislation?

Yes. All these regulations will be reconsidered.
