Vol. 46 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Brick or Stone Instead of Concrete.

asked the Minister for Local Government and Public Health if, in view of the fact that one of the finest brick works in the Free State is situated in Waterford, he will consider taking steps to ensure that persons who apply for grants in that area under the Housing (Financial and Miscellaneous Provisions) Act, 1932, shall use brick or stone instead of concrete.

I possess no statutory authority enabling me to enforce such a restriction. Payment of grants to private persons erecting houses in brick is, however, conditional on the use of bricks produced in Saorstát Eireann.
