Vol. 47 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Irish Manufactures Directory.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will state when he expects to issue the directory of Irish manufactures; whether he has issued a questionnaire or any notice to manufacturers as to the information he requires, and, if so, whether he will place copies of such papers on the Table of the Dáil.

I am not yet in a position to state when the Directory to which the Deputy refers will be published. The answer to the second part of the question is in the negative and the third part, therefore, does not arise.

As the Minister has referred me to the Library for the number of people employed in the tariff industry is he aware that he referred me to information more than 18 months old?

I am not aware of it.

Would the Minister inform the Minister for Industry and Commerce that that is so, and would he ask him also, how long more we must wait for information, as regards the number of persons employed in these industries, or how long more it is going to take to unhide the hidden men coming on?

I will inform him of what the Deputy has said.

Has any substantial work been done on the compilation of this directory or has the work been allotted to anyone yet?

The compilation of the directory, I am informed, is actually proceeding.
