Vol. 47 No. 11

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Roscrea Pension Claim.

asked the Minister for Local Government and Public Health if he will state why a pension for blindness has not been granted to John Dillon, Ballybritt, Roscrea, although passed for 10/- weekly by the local Pensions Committee on the 27th October, 1932, and if he is aware that he had certificates from both the local medical officer and from the county occulist, Offaly.

An appeal was received on 10th December, 1932, from the Pension Officer against the proposed allowance by the Shinrone Old Age Pension Sub-Committee of a blind pension of 10/- a week from 30th September, 1932, to John Dillon, Ballybrit, Roscrea. The date of the Sub-Committee's decision appears to have been 5th December, 1932, not 27th October, 1932, as stated in the question.

The clerk of the local Pension SubCommittee has been requested to forward the necessary relative papers, but so far has failed to do so. The Minister is therefore not yet aware of the evidence by which the present claim is supported. The case will be expedited.
