Vol. 48 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Bandon Circuit Court Sittings.

asked the Minister for Justice if he will state why Circuit Court sittings for the Bandon division are held in Cork City instead of being held in Bandon where there is a very suitable and commodious courthouse.

The places at which sittings of the Circuit Court are held are determined by the Rules of the Court. The town of Bandon is not one of the places so specified by the rules. I understand that the proposal to include Bandon amongst the places so specified by the Rules of Court was considered on more than one occasion, but that it was felt, and is still felt, that the balance of convenience is in favour of holding these sittings in Cork City.
