Vol. 50 No. 13

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Sentence on Kilrush Man.

asked the Minister for Justice if he will state with regard to the Press announcement about the 12th January, 1934, of the confirmation by the Circuit Court Judge of sentence previously imposed on P. Keane, Kilrush, (a) the charge on account of which P. Keane was sentenced; (b) the incidents from which the matter of the charge arose; (c) if any other charges were preferred in connection with this incident against other members of the crowd; and (d) if any further proceedings are likely.

The replies to the different parts of this question are as follows:—(a) the charge was assaulting a detective officer; (b) the charge arose out of what appears to have been a demonstration by a rival political group against members of the A.C.A. or National Guard; (c) no other charges were preferred in connection with this incident; (d) I am not prepared to state whether any further proceedings are likely.
