Vol. 51 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Automatic Traffic Signals.

asked the Minister for Justice if he is aware that automatic signals are almost universally adopted for traffic control in other countries; if it is intended to adopt such signals in the Free State, and, if not, if he will state the reasons why.

I am aware that in areas where road traffic is intense, it is the practice in many countries to erect automatic signals. The Road Traffic Act of last year contains special provisions in Section 147 for the erection of automatic signals and it is intended to avail of such provisions in any area where it is considered desirable such signals should be erected.
