Vol. 52 No. 3

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Purchases in Dublin Cattle Market.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if he is aware that the purchases made in the Dublin cattle market by the German buyer are restricted to the cattle on certain stands and that these cattle are in most cases the property of Mr. Con Crowley, Millstreet, County Cork, who acts as guide to the German buyer; whether Mr. Crowley is acting as a Government representative in this matter, and if so, in what way he is remunerated for his services and on what principle he indicates cattle on certain stands to the buyer for purchase.

Dr. Ryan

I am not aware of the system under which the German buyer purchases cattle in the Dublin market. This buyer makes his own arrangements.

Mr. Crowley is not acting as a Government representative and the latter portion of the question does not, therefore, arise.
