Vol. 52 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Window Breaking at Fine Gael Offices.

asked the Minister for Justice whether he has received a report that the ground-floor window of 5 Parnell Square, the headquarters office of the Fine Gael North Dublin Constituency Executive, was broken by stone throwing at 10 p.m. on the 22nd March last, and again at 9 p.m. on the 9th April, and whether he will state if the offenders have been identified by the police and charged with the offence.

The answer to the first part of the question is in the affirmative. As no charges have yet been made I do not think it proper to state whether any of the offenders have been identified by the police.

Is the Minister aware that these windows were again broken on Saturday last?

I have had no report so far.

The police have had that report. Does the Minister not understand that failure to follow up successive breakages like this is an encouragement to people to continue breaking these windows? I would ask the Minister to give special consideration to this matter to ensure that a campaign of window breaking will not be continued with impunity.

Every effort is being made by the police.
