Vol. 54 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Gárda and Detective Fired On.

asked the Minister for Justice whether the persons guilty of firing on Gárda James Ryan and Detective O'Leary at Castlelyons on Saturday, 27th October last, have been identified and convicted and, if so, if he will state what punishment has been imposed and whether the arms used on this occasion have been traced and taken possession of by the police.

A District Director of the League of Youth has been made amenable in connection with the outrage referred to in the Deputy's question. He has been sentenced to 18 months' imprisonment, and a revolver and ammunition of which he was in illegal possession have been confiscated.

Before what court was the case brought, and when?

I presume the Tribunal.

The Military Tribunal, and when?

I cannot tell the Deputy that.
