Vol. 60 No. 12

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Abuse of Maize Meal Concession.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if he is aware that the concession made to millers, to enable them to supply pure maize meal for human needs only, has been abused in certain areas, to the detriment of the Government's policy, and if any steps are being taken to put an end to this abuse.

As I indicated in my reply to Deputy Dillon's question yesterday, I became aware that certain millers were abusing the concession made to them for the sale of pure maize meal for human consumption. An Order has been made restricting the sale of pure maize meal for human consumption to packages containing not more than 1 lb.
