Vol. 65 No. 11

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Kilkenny Gárda Station.

asked the Minister for Justice whether he is aware that the existing Gárda station in Kilkenny City is wholly unsuitable for its present use; whether it has been condemned by the medical officer of health; whether the Board of Works were requested early in 1935 to take early steps towards the provision of suitable barrack accommodation for the Gárda in Kilkenny, and whether he is now in a position to state when suitable accommodation will be made available.

I am aware that the premises occupied as a Gárda Síochána station in Kilkenny are very unsuitable for that purpose. I am informed by the Board of Works that no suitable alternative premises are available and that they are endeavouring to obtain a site upon which to erect a new barrack. The board state that works are at present being carried out which, when completed, will render the existing premises more comfortable pending the provision of permanent accommodation.
