Vol. 69 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Landing Facilities at Castletownbere.

asked the Minister for Finance if he is aware that there is no landing place at Castletownbere for cattle arriving from Bereisland, etc., by boats for the fairs at Castletownbere; that in such cases cattle have to be dumped into Bantry Bay and driven ashore by swimming to the danger of the men and cattle; and if he will consider the building of a suitable slip for the landing of cattle on such occasions and for the general convenience of the islanders who market at Castletownbere.

An application for the building of a landing slip at Castletownbere was received in the Office of Public Works on the 30th October last and the proposal is at present under consideration.
