Vol. 69 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Creamery Shareholders.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if he is aware that certain milk suppliers under the Creamery Act, 1928, who were compulsorily transferred to certain new creameries, have not as yet been issued with shares in those new creameries, while other transferees to other creameries were compelled to take shares in those creameries, the financial position of which was uncertain, and if he will take steps to remedy this anomalous situation.

I have no definite information as to the failure of creamery societies to issue shares to their transferred milk suppliers in accordance with the Creamery Act, 1928, but if the Deputy will supply full particulars of the cases he has in mind I will have the matter investigated.

Has not this matter been brought to the attention of the Minister's Department before this? I was with a deputation that called on the Department some few months ago in connection with this matter. In fact, I mentioned certain creameries as a few of the cases of the type I have in mind.

Any cases that have been brought before the Department have been dealt with as far as the Department can deal with them, but I am asking the Deputy to give particulars of any further cases.
