Vol. 69 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Provision of Playing Field in County Galway.

asked the Minister for Lands if it is the intention to provide a playing field on the E.J. Blake estate, Renvyle, County Galway.

Mr. Boland

The Land Commission have given sympathetic consideration to the representations made to them to provide a sports field at Tullymore, Renvyle, but there are difficulties in the way of providing the plot selected by local persons for the purpose. This plot comprises an area of 4a. 1r. 20p. in the occupation of three tenants, each holding separate portions of it, and the interests of these persons have to be considered.

A further obstacle in the matter is that a right of way to the seashore exists over the plot and it would be difficult to get an equally suitable alternative passage to the shore outside this plot. Before the site of this right of way could be altered it would be necessary to obtain the legal consent of all persons entitled to use it.
