Vol. 69 No. 19

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Athy Sewerage Scheme.

asked the Minister for Local Government and Public Health if he will state whether proposals for the carrying out of a sewerage scheme on the Geraldine housing scheme at Athy have been received from the Athy Urban District Council, and if he will state how the matter now stands.

I have received from the Athy Urban District Council a proposal for the expenditure of a sum of £600 approximately to provide sewerage for houses at Geraldine Road.

The council have been very irregular in the repayment of loan instalments to the Commissioners of Public Works and they have been notified on several occasions that unless repayments are made punctually as instalments of loans fall due no further loans would be sanctioned.

I am informed that a sum of £876 is in arrear in respect of payments due to the Commissioners of Public Works in November last. I am not therefore in a position to sanction further borrowing.

Will the Parliamentary Secretary say whether the latter sum has since been received?

I do not think so.

If it is received will the Parliamentary Secretary review the matter?

It would create a better atmosphere.
