Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Advances to Road Fund.

asked the Minister for Local Government and Public Health if he will state the total sum advanced out of the Central Fund to the Road Fund during each of the past ten years; the total of the sums so advanced; the several rates of interest at which the advances were made; the total sum repaid to the Central Fund in respect of (a) principal and (b) interest; and the total sum now outstanding in respect of (a) principal and (b) interest.

The information required by the Deputy is partly in tabular form, and will be circulated in the Official Report.

The total amounts advanced to the Road Fund under the Road Fund (Advances) Act, 1926, are as follows:

Interest has been paid at rates of 4¾ per cent., 5¼ per cent. and 5½ per cent. The total sum paid in respect of interest is £462,894 4s. 1d. Repayment of principal to the total amount of £675,945 has been made.

The total amount outstanding is £1,114,055.
