Vol. 69 No. 19

Written Answers. - Rotational Employment.

asked the Minister for Finance to state in respect of each of the years 1936 and 1937 the average number of men employed each month on work to which the "rotation" scheme was applied, indicating for each month what percentage of those employed had to submit to deduction in respect of unemployment insurance.

The accompanying table sets out for each month of the years 1936 and 1937 (a) the average number of persons (including gangers and carters) employed on works financed from the Vote for the provision of employment schemes, to which the rotational system of employment was applied, and (b) the estimated percentage of those employed who were insured under the Unemployment Insurance Acts. It should be noted that the number set out in the table include gangers, carters, and, in some cases, other workmen who were employed on a full-time basis. No separate record of these cases is available.
