Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Orthopaedic Treatment.

asked the Minister for Local Government and Public Health if he is aware that an application for a grant from the Hospital Sweepstake funds towards the provision of an orthopædic hospital for the Southern area was made, and if in view of the large increase of cases requiring treatment in this type of hospital in the South which cannot be accommodated in existing orthopædic institutions with out long delay, he is prepared to recommend a grant, having regard to its urgency.

The answer to the first part of the question is in the affirmative. The question of the general provision to be made for the treatment of orthopædic cases is at present being considered by the Hospitals Commission.
