Vol. 70 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Torpey and Lucas Farms.

asked the Minister for Lands if he will state if representations have been made to the Irish Land Commission to acquire and distribute amongst landless men and uneconomic holders the Torpey farm and the Lucas farm — known as the Acres, and if he is in a position to state what decision the Land Commission has reached on the matter.

Mr. Boland

Proceedings have been instituted for the resumption of the holding of Mary Torpey containing 21 acres in the townland of Cloongaheen East, on the Naish estate, Record No. S.7207, and also of the holding of Mrs. Frances Jane Lucas containing 130 acres in the townland of O'Shea's Acres on the O'Donnell estate, Record No. S.1471, which appear to be the farms referred to by the Deputy.

Would the Minister give any indication as to when the farms are likely to be distributed?

Mr. Boland

I cannot.
