Vol. 70 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Clare Forestry Development.

asked the Minister for Lands if he will state when it is proposed to start work at Whitegate, County Clare, in connection with the forestry development promised in that area.

Mr. Boland

The lands offered for forestry purposes at Whitegate, County Clare, have not yet been acquired, and it is not possible at this stage to state when forestry operations can be started. The matter will be expedited as much as practicable.

Will the Minister try to remember that he said that to me two years ago on the Estimate? Is it for the sake of consistency he keeps on saying it?

Mr. Boland

There is a question of turbary to be settled. When that is settled, the matter will be expedited as much as possible. That is what is holding it up.

Is the Minister aware that on his Estimate two years ago he told me the work would be on hands pretty soon?

Mr. Boland

I do not think I said that.

I think the Minister did.

It is like the Pearse Street Post Office.
