Vol. 70 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Kildare Estate—Erection of Pump.

asked the Minister for Lands whether he is now in a position to state when a well will be sunk and a pump erected for James Christian, who was allotted a holding of land on the Kennedy estate at Bishopscourt, Straffan, County Kildare.

Mr. Boland

It is hoped that the work of sinking a well and making a pump for James Christian can be undertaken in the autumn of this year —the season appropriate for such work. Arrangements for placing the contract are at present in preparation.

Do I understand that the work will be completed in the autumn?

Mr. Boland

It appears that the autumn is the best time for sinking pumps. The water is at its lowest at that period of the year. That is the reason for the delay.

The Minister knows that last autumn was the same and it passed by without the pump being sunk.
