Vol. 70 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - A County Mayo House.

asked the Minister for Lands if he is aware that the house built by the Congested Districts Board for Mr. Owen McDonnell at Killernan, Kilmain (Staples estate), County Mayo, in the year 1911, when Mr. McDonnell was migrated to Killernan, was so badly constructed and built on such bad foundations that it has now cracked and is in a dangerous condition, and if so, will the Land Commission build a new house for Mr. McDonnell.

Mr. Boland

The question appears to refer to the case of Owen McDonnell, the registered owner of a holding purchased under the Land Purchase Acts, who has complained to the Land Commission about the faulty condition of his dwelling-house. The matter will be investigated with a view to considering whether any action by the Land Commission is warranted in the circumstances.

When are we likely to hear the decision of the Land Commission?

Mr. Boland

As soon as possible.

When will the investigations take place. I can assure the Minister that the house which the Congested Districts Board built for this man is in a dangerous condition. Would the Minister say if I have another question down for this day week whether he will be in a position to give me an answer?

Mr. Boland

I will do the best I can to try and hurry up the matter.
