Vol. 74 No. 12

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Fixity of Tenure.

asked the Minister for Lands if he will consider introducing proposals for legislation to restore to land holders the fixity of tenure removed by recent land legislation, so that farmers may feel that security of tenure without which they cannot be expected to spend money on drainage and other improvements, or build up the fertility and stock-carrying capacity of their land.

Mr. Boland

No such legislation as the Deputy suggests is necessary.

If a farmer feels that he may be evicted out of his place, surely some legislation is necessary?

Mr. Boland

There is no reason why he should think that he will be evicted.

There is every reason.

Mr. Boland

No reason in the world.
