Vol. 75 No. 20

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Imported Wheaten Flour.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce (1) how many firms in Éire were permitted to import wheaten flour for the year ended 31st March, 1939; (2) what was the total amount of flour so imported, and (3) what was the c.i.f. price per sack (280 lbs.) of such flour.

Two biscuit-making firms were granted licences to import flour. In addition licences were issued from time to time for the import of special classes of flour on medical certificates, for ships' stores or for laboratory purposes. The total amount of flour imported was 40,010 sacks of 280 lb. and the c.i.f. value per sack was £1 5s. 11d.

Did the Minister say that some was imported for biscuit manufacturing?
