asked the Minister for Education if he will state (a) the total number of members of religious orders, trained or untrained, engaged as teachers in primary schools in Éire on 30th June, 1927; 30th June, 1928; and 30th June, 1929; and (b) the total number of lay teachers teaching in primary schools in Éire on the 30th June, 1929, and on 30th June, 1938.

(a) The total numbers of members of religious orders trained or untrained engaged as teachers in primary schools during the years in question were as follows:—
