Vol. 76 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Payment of General Election Officers.

asked the Minister for Finance if he is now in a position to state when the expenses and allowances to presiding officers, polling clerks and others employed at the General Election of 1938 will be paid.

The majority of the accounts of returning officers in connection with the General Election of 1938 have already been closed. Examination of the outstanding accounts is proceeding and every effort has been made to dispose of them as expeditiously as possible. In view of the number of queries which arise on these accounts it will be appreciated that it is not possible to indicate a date by which all outstanding claims will have been met.
