Vol. 76 No. 13

Ceisteanna.—Questions. Oral Answers. - Peat Fuel Company, Limited.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will state the total amount of assistance given by the State to the Peat Fuel Company, Limited, whether by way of (1) loan, (2) grant, (3) guarantee and (4) or otherwise; and if he will state whether the report on this experiment contemplated in his statement of the 8th July last has been prepared, and when he proposes to convey it to the Dáil.

A guarantee was given in respect of a loan of £90,000 under the Trade Loans (Guarantee) Acts and repayable grants-in-aid to a total of £65,000 were advanced to the company. No other financial assistance was given to the company. With regard to the reports on this experiment contemplated in my statement of the 8th July the question of the future of this undertaking is at present under consideration and I am not yet in a position to make a statement on the subject.
