Vol. 77 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Disquieting Rumours.

asked the Minister for Justice whether he is aware of the disquieting rumours which have been prevalent as to the possibility of subversive action by illegal organisations; and whether he will take steps to allay further uneasiness caused by the prevalence of such rumours.

I am aware of the prevalence of rumours of the kind referred to in the question. The Gárda Síochána are confident that with the powers now at their disposal they will be in a position effectively to prevent any serious disturbance of the peace.

Arising out of the Minister's reply, does he think it a wise thing to suppress a ceilidhe organised by an organisation other than what is known as a dangerous organisation in the country?

Mr. Boland

I cannot see the relevancy.

It does not arise.
