Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Arrests under Offences Against the State Act.

asked the Minister for Justice if he will state how many persons have been arrested under the Offences Against the State Act, 1939: how many have been or are to be brought on trial; whether any persons have been arrested under the Emergency Powers Act, 1939; and, if so, how many, and how many have since been released.

Ninety-three persons have been arrested under the Offences Against the State Act, 1939. Of these, 67 are at present detained in Arbour Hill and 15 others are awaiting trial. There have been no arrests under the Emergency Powers Act.
