Vol. 78 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Acquisition of Land for Afforestation.

asked the Minister for Lands if it is his intention to acquire the wooded and bog lands on the estate of Captain Winter (now in the hands of the Land Commission) at Agher, Enfield, Meath, for afforestation; and if he will state when work is likely to start.

It is proposed that the Forestry Division should take over from the Land Commission some 95 acres on the Winter estate to be used for afforestation purposes in conjunction with other lands on the Langford estate in the vicinity, also proposed to be taken over from the Land Commission. The area on the Winter estate is almost entirely under timber at present, and it is unlikely that planting operations could be started there this season.
