Vol. 78 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Division of Land in County Limerick.

asked the Minister for Lands whether he is aware of the serious congestion that exists in the vicinity of Knocklong, County Limerick; whether representations have been made to him on behalf of various organisations in the district in favour of dividing the ranches comprised in the Rafferty, Mitchell, Moran, Hogan, Raleigh, and Harty estates consisting of about 600 acres; whether he intends to act on these representations, and, if so, whether he will state when it is proposed to acquire and sub-divide the lands in question.

The Land Commission have received representations regarding the division of the Mitchell, Moran, Hogan, Raleigh and Harty estates, in the vicinity of Knocklong, County Limerick. Proceedings have been instituted for the acquisition of the lands of Ballynahinch on the Hogan estate, and an objection made by the owner is pending for hearing. The lands of Ballynahinch on the Raleigh estate have been inspected, but the Land Commission have decided to take no action for their acquisition in view of the circumstances disclosed by the inspection. There are, at present, no proceedings for the acquisition of the lands comprised in the Rafferty, Mitchell, Moran and Harty estates, but the Deputy's representations have been noted for future consideration.
