Vol. 78 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Alleged Smuggling of Oats.

asked the Minister for Finance if he is aware of the extensive smuggling of oats from Northern Ireland for sale in Carrickmacross market, and if he will take steps to ensure that it is stopped immediately in view of its effect on the farming community in Eire and especially in County Monaghan.

No smuggling of oats into the district in question has come under the notice of the Revenue Commissioners within the past two years. All reasonable steps are taken to prevent illegal importations.
