Vol. 81 No. 2

Order of Business.

The business will be disposed of as on the Order Paper, Nos. 4 to 9, inclusive, and Nos. 2 and 3 in their appropriate places. When the business on the Order Paper is completed the Dáil will adjourn until Wednesday, November 6th.

On the last day that the Dáil sat mention was made of the desirability of devoting some time to the consideration of motions on the Order Paper in the names of Private Deputies, and I am wondering if the Minister could indicate now that the Government will make a day available for the discussion of these motions, and an agreed period for doing so.

That is a matter, I think, that could be taken up and an arrangement come to.

It was mentioned at the last sitting, when a similar proposal was made to the Tánaiste, that it would be considered. What has happened since?

I understand that the Tánaiste suggested that it could be dealt with in a few weeks.

I understood the Government would consider the question of allocating a date for consideration of these motions.

My recollection does not bear that out.

Will the Minister agree now that, when the Dáil resumes, a day will be devoted to this purpose, as we have really had no Private Deputies' business for months?

It will certainly be considered in the meantime.

Public business not to be interrupted at 9 p.m.
