Vol. 82 No. 7

Ceisteanna.—Questions. Oral Answers. - Foot and Mouth Disease—Unemployment.

asked the Minister for Agriculture whether, in view of the unemployment created in the City and County of Dublin as a result of the foot and mouth disease, he will introduce proposals for legislation to compensate the workers for their loss of employment.

It is recognised that the loss caused by the present outbreak of foot and mouth disease is widespread and is not confined to workers only. In existing circumstances I do not propose to introduce legislation to deal with such consequential losses.
