Vol. 84 No. 12

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Export of Potatoes.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will state the quantity of potatoes exported each week during May and June and the first two weeks of July.

The Deputy will have observed that, subsequent to August, 1939, a summary only of the value of imports and exports has been issued. It has been decided not to publish for the present more details than are given in this summary.

Is the Minister aware that during this month, over a period of eight or nine days, 346 tons of potatoes left the port of Cork and in the previous month, 260 tons were sent? Is not that a serious position, in view of the fact that we are so short of flour?

I suggest that is a separate question.

Does the Minister suggest that the publication of the figures will endanger our policy of neutrality?

I have nothing to add to the reply I have given.
