Vol. 85 No. 3

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - West Cork Flour Supplies.

asked the Minister for Supplies if he is aware that in remote areas like West Cork baker's bread is, in many places, unobtainable owing to the stoppage of bread vans and that this creates a larger demand for flour for home baking; if he will, therefore, instead of reducing the supply of flour by 90 per cent., which may be justifiable in the case of baker's flour, consider the necessity of increasing the available quantity of retail flour to meet this increased and increasing demand.

I am not aware that the shortage in supplies of baker's bread for any area is such as to warrant increased supplies of retail flour, but any specific instances brought to the notice of my Department will be fully considered.
