Vol. 85 No. 3

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Hunting Restrictions.

asked the Minister for Agriculture what restrictions are at present imposed on hunting in the Counties Kilkenny and South Tipperary.

Hunting is prohibited in the Counties of Kilkenny and Tipperary (S. R.). Applications for permission to hunt in those counties will be favourably considered, however, provided the country covered is well outside the present scheduled areas and subject to other necessary precautions.

Would the Minister elaborate a little bit on that? That is very indefinite. I want to know what the restrictions are—whether there is a line drawn, and what it is?

I do not know personally what the line is at the moment.

What is the restriction at the moment?

If an application is made for a permit to hold a hunt, all particulars will be given.

Is there any part of those counties free?

The part adjacent to the scheduled area, that is Carlow, is not free for the moment.

Is the rest of the county free.

The parts that are not adjacent are free.
