Vol. 85 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Imports of Milk to Dublin.

asked the Minister for Agriculture what is the estimated total quantity of milk brought into Dublin each day for consumption in Dublin.

The average daily consumption of milk in the Dublin City area is approximately 31,000 gallons. In a normal year all milk consumed in Dublin from May to October is brought into the sale area, as the cowkeepers' cattle are out on grass. During the remaining months of the year, the only milk not brought in is that produced by cowkeepers in city premises. What that quantity is at present cannot be definitely ascertained until the returns to the Dublin Milk Board for the current month have been received and collated.
