Vol. 86 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Tea Allowance for Turf Workers.

asked the Minister for Supplies if he will arrange to provide a personal tea allowance for turf workers who are working on bogs situated a considerable distance from their homes and, if so, whether he can say when will this allowance be made available to them.

As I explained to the Bail on the 14th May, 1941, arrangements have been made to make available limited quantities of tea in cases where workers are employed on turf cutting in organised groups of substantial size at considerable distances from their homes. Where the conditions mentioned are fulfilled permits to obtain supplies will be issued on application to my Department by the responsible person in charge of the organised group. These arrangements were in operation during last year and will be continued during the present season.

It is not possible to make any additional supplies available to individual workers.
