Vol. 86 No. 18

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Cork Cattle Traders' Association.

asked the Minister for-Supplies if he has received representations from the Cattle Traders' Association, Cork, asking for "discs" to enable their exporting traders to attend specified fairs; and whether, in view of the necessity of maintaining the export cattle trade and the small number of buyers concerned, he will favourably consider such applications (1) for exporters only, and (2) for specified fairs.

Representations have been made to me by the United Cattle Traders' Association, Cork, for the issue of "discs" to permit the use of private motor cars by cattle exporters for the purpose of attending monthly cattle fairs in Counties Cork, Kerry, Limerick and Tipperary.

I regret that, owing to the present acute shortage of petrol, I have not found it possible to permit the use of private cars by persons engaged in the cattle export trade.

Are they allowed to employ taxis when going to fairs?
