Vol. 88 No. 18

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Old Age Pensioners' Allotments.

asked the Minister for Local Government and Public Health if he will state whether old age pensioners are now being deprived of allotments of plots, which in some cases have been in their possession and cultivated by them for several years prior to their becoming old age pensioners; and, if so, if he will state under what regulation they are so deprived.

No instances have been brought to the notice of my Department of old age pensioners having been deprived of allotments. Allotments at a nominal charge are provided solely for unemployed persons as defined by the Allotments Act, 1934, and the regulations thereunder. Old age pensioners would not come within that category.
