Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Migration of Workers.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will state the total number of male and female workers who left Eire to take up employment in Great Britain and Northern Ireland during each of the periods: (a) September to December, 1939, inclusive; (b) January to September, 1940, inclusive; and (c) 1st October, 1942, to date.

The total number of travel permit cards issued to persons, male and female workers, travelling for the purpose of taking up employment in Great Britain and Northern Ireland during each of the periods mentioned were as follows:—

These figures would, of course, include permits covering temporary absences for such work as agricultural work of a seasonal nature.
