Vol. 89 No. 18

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Commercial Travellers' Salaries.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce whether he is aware that commercial travellers working on a commission basis are in poor circumstances because of the effect of rationing on their business, and if he is prepared in the circumstances to permit the firms employing commission agents to increase the salaries of such agents without having recourse to the present machinery as prescribed in the Emergency Powers Orders.

I am not empowered to exempt any class of employee from the provisions of the Government Emergency Powers Order referred to in the question.

If the parties to whom the question refers will communicate with my Department, they will be fully informed as to the steps which may be taken to secure increased remuneration under the Order.
