Vol. 89 No. 18

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Hone Estate, County Kildare.

asked the Minister for Lands if he will state whether the Land Commission propose to acquire and divide the turbary attached to the Hone estate, at Kilmeade, Athy, County Kildare, among local allottees.

The Land Commission have not in hands any proposal for the acquisition of the turbary in question on the Hone estate at Kilmeade, Athy.

Will the Minister consider sympathetically dividing the turbary which was part of this estate amongst those who have got holdings on it in accordance with the Land Commission practice?

Of the 58 acres which were left over when these lands were originally acquired in 1935, about half was high bog. The remainder, being cut-away, consists of a narrow wedge in a very extensive tract of bog which was not required for turbary purposes.
