Vol. 92 No. 17

Ceisteanna.—Questions. Oral Answers. - Tuosist (County Kerry) Sub-post Office.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs whether he has received a resolution from the Tuosist Parish Council, County Kerry, asking him to have a telephone installed at the Tuosist sub-post office; and whether, in view of the great distance separating Tuosist from the telegraph offices at Lauragh and Kenmare and the consequent isolation of the place, he will give favourable consideration to this matter.

I regret that this request cannot be favourably entertained at present. Apart from consideration of cost, the provision of public telephone facilities at Tuosist would involve the use of an abnormal amount of engineering materials which could not be spared in existing conditions. The Tuosist Parish Council have already been informed accordingly.
